- the first post is a teaser/album cover for the artists new song I chose this because similar artists do the same thing
- this post is the name of the song on a pair of colourful crocs. this is going to be in our music video so we could use a screenshot from the actual thing which will make it easier on us during the instagram process.
- the next post will be a photoshoot with the artist and the feature. We chose to put this in as a more serious post since the other posts are less serious.
- the next post is a silly close up selfie. We chose to add some of these because its similar to some other artists with the same vibe and star persona.
- the next post is a behind the scenes video of the artists during the filming of the music video.
- another silly selfie
- the next post will be a shot of the two artists in a recording studio with some silly props in the room with them. this is a take on a serious picture because I don't feel like the artist was the type to have loads of serious pictures on his instagram
- the next post is another picture of the two artists sitting on a couch having beers, this really just shows that they are two regular boys that can relate to their audience.
- the next shot will be of the artist sleeping on set. we chose this again so the artist looks relatable and quirky.
- the next one is slightly more serious. it will be the artist sitting at a table with a plate of desert and two spoons. we chose this to hint towards the artist dating this will create some speculation to who he is with and create some anticipation.
- the next post will be of the artist walking their dog. We want to show that he is an animal lover and that he's just like everyone else.
- the next shot will be another silly mirror selfie with messy hair.

individual ideas for instagram posts for my artist
Camera workshop 1
In this camera workshop we started off with a recap of what we learned last term and started learning about filming with different lenses and the differences between shooting a music video and an opening title sequence.
the first thing we discussed how to focus using the new lenses. Last term we use zoom lenses and now we will use prime lenses. Prime lenses don't have the same mechanisms to focus so we had to learn a new way using a tape measure. The reason for using the prime lenses is because the quality is much better. The way we focus is by measuring the distance between the camera and the main person. We then take that measurement and use that number on the dial pictured below. We were also introduced to a new type of lense that we just got that is a much higher quality lense that is a cross between a zoom and prime lense.

Clay Shirky
End of Audience Theory
Clay Shirky's end of audience theory is about how audiences are more active while they watch media products. Meaning that instead of just watching something as background noise, the audience is much more involved and interactive. Shirky's reasoning is because he believes that with the change in technologies our behaviours and expectations as an audience have changed as well. This is shown in many different forms of social media today such as instagram and facebook, being able to like and comment on media is expected.
With the rise in technology, the demand for paper copies news papers and magazines are dropping. Shirky's theory of end of audience allots the audience a level of power, thanks to the accessibility of social media it is a lot easier for an audience to tell the producers what they want to see and what they dont want to see as well as giving some feedback. This allows the producers to get a better idea of what their audience likes and how well they are responding to the media.
Some real life examples of this is in Taylor Swifts Red Taylor's Version website. She created a vault on her website which includes a series of games and clues to solve the puzzle and be let into the vault. Unfortunately the vault is no longer up on her Red Taylor's version website but I have found a video of someone as they unlock the vault. This allows the audience to get involved in the launch of the album and connect better with the artist. https://redtaylorsversion.taylorswift.com/
Another Taylor swift example is her Blank Space experience game. With the launch of her hit song 'Blank Space' Taylor created a 360 degree experience app so that her audience could interact with the set of Blank Space and thus feel more connected.https://www.behance.net/gallery/21232643/Taylor-Swift-Blank-Space-Experience-360-App
Another example of Clay Shirky's theory is the rise of interactive movies. These movies allow the audience to choose their path by making a series of decisions throughout the film that will affect the outcome. Below are some examples of interactive movies.
analyzing a music video in the same genre
slowly as the music video goes on each employee in the office transforms into a summer colourful outfit. Before the person is transformed they look very stressed and uninterested but as soon as they are transformed they look a lot happier and calmer. This signifies leaving behind the negativity and embracing things that make you happy.
For each person that is transformed it is unique to them, I think that this is interesting because it's not putting everyone in the same situation because obviously everyone has their own likes and dislikes so it really is catered to them. Clearly the set ups are fake and those in the video are well aware that it is also fake but they don't seem to care. I think that this signifies that you don't need to place happiness into one place or thing and you can experience the things that you enjoy in a simplistic way.
The music video continues to add colour and people throughout the scene. They move outside and there is lots of colour introduced and lots of confetti and dancing. I think that this signifies leaving behind things that don't make you happy and focusing on the positive and good things in life.

potential casting ideas part 1
The three people that we have chosen to act in our video are Hayley, Albie and George.
We will do video takes of the boys lip synching and decide from there who will be Miles and George based on who best fits the vibe.
continued:
After further talking and changing of our title sequence we decided that we want to keep Albie for one of the singers and audition some other boys to be Blake. We've done one take for the audition for Albie but we need to try it again when he learns the words to the song to confirm our decision. We are now looking for people who will be available to act as stage crew. Our ideas for who will play Blake are Hugo, Kier or Joel but we want to look more into other students to see if we can find someone else who we don't know that may fit the singer well.

Adapting to feedback
The main concerns for our video was that the narrative might be too cheesy and that it would look like our singer is a bad guy.
We have chosen to change some of the scenes and adapt to the feedback we received. The first change we will do is taking out the girlfriend scene and the band scene. We realized how difficult it will be to find people who play instruments and who fit the aesthetic of the music video. So we have decided to replace them with flashbacks to when the couple was together. We have changed it from a duo to a single artist and a feature artist. In regards to the narrative we have decided to focus more on the flashbacks and of the artist being upset in club setting and hotel setting. This will allow us more room for editing and cuts because there will be less lip synching. We want to keep the hotel and the club bathroom scene. We decided to change the hotel scene a bit to have it look like a living room after a party. We want to add some extras in the background to set the scene. We also decided to not have the singer lip synching the entire time in the bathroom to add some extra shots if we need more footage.
After our meeting with Luke and pitching our new idea we received a lot of feedback and he told us that he likes the idea but really just isn't doable. The scenes alone would take a really long time to film just to only have 30 seconds of usable footage. Ellis proposed an idea to make it very cheesy and clearly made on a set. Luke said were getting somewhere with that idea but we need to develop it more. He also suggested that we change the song. We thought about that and our group really wants to keep the song but that means we really need to develop it well. We decided to go with a fake beach with floaties and toys and give it the vibe of "we know its a music video and we are trying to make it look fake". we discussed different scenes and chose some scenes that we think would be suitable. our first scene will be a slow zoom on a rubber ducky and expanding to a kiddie pool filled with blue balls with floaties. Our second scene will be beach chairs, with shovels and pales, umbrellas with fake waves and we will have our singers wearing touristy outfits (hawaiian shirts, goggles, socks and sandals. The next scene will be crocs in stop motion with letters being added reading 'can't just call me'. We want to add some other scenes and things to really make it active and fun. We think this goes well with our song because the song is very happy and summery but obviously we will not be filming in the summer in california so we want to play into it. The song is about having fun and not missing your ex so it can be as though the singer is trying to convince themself that they're having fun when in reality they're just filming a video in a studio.

Matt's first workshop
- went over the conventions of a music video
- spoke of how bands often don't do as well as single artists
- why single artists do better is because it is easier to make a star persona and make music videos and make them interesting so they often do better on the charts
- we discussed how many different scenes we should have (not too many)
-we then looked at single artists and bands music videos
-less is more
- we looked at Katy Perry's music video and discussed the way she portrayed and the heavy influence on sex appeal
- we also looked at Post Malones first music video and looked at how they chose to portray him.
-we spoke about about how we can show the vibe and image of our chose artists or bands
-it is easier to give a star persona to a single artist
-how at festivals its mostly bands because they have more stage presence

what people thought of my song choices
Feedback:
Red by Sofia- The majority of the class thought the song was lovely however, the biggest concern was the pace of the song. A big concern for the music video would be to avoid the classic female vocalist singing while dancers sway in the back. They brought it to my attention that this song would be more difficult to make a music video for.
Champagne by 5ever- I showed my peers the music video for Champagne and the main concern was coming up with an idea that isn't the same as the actual video. Prior to showing the video my peers suggested doing a montage of motion while the main vocalist is sitting on a couch, the issue with this is that the music video is the exact same. Therefore coming up with a music video that would match the lyrics of the song would be a lot more difficult than I intended.
Cant just call me by Blake and Miles- I received nothing but positivity for this song. everyone said that it had a really good vibe and would be a plausible music video. I got a lot of ideas for the music video from my peers and so far it was a crowd favourite.
live it again by the motives- this was also a crowd favourite however the tempo of the song may be a little bit difficult as I decided that I wanted to keep the tempo a little more fast paced in terms of editing and shots.
Out of all the songs that I presented to my class, Live it again and Can't just call me were the top two choices.
Lukes feedback:
After showing Luke our song choice, he had some concerns that it will be another breakup song or that the it will just be actors acting out each part of the song which can get tedious and is not a feasible plan. He expressed his concern for our narrative idea. This got us thinking about what kind of narrative we can do that isn't going to be boring (as most films and teenage music videos revolve around breakups). We discussed different ideas for our three scenes and discussed the possibility of going out of studio into town or a different site.
